While attending the Junior Retreat, participants will find that most places are walkable.

City bus: Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District. The busses are good and go most places.

Fare: A standard ride costs $1, one-way, with free transfers from route-to-route. Only coins and $1 bills accepted. Drivers can make change for up to $5 prior to 7 p.m. Exact cash is required after that time.

BBQ AT ILLINI GROVE:

6 p.m., Thursday, July 26, at Illini Grove

Illini Grove is located on the NW corner of Lincoln and Pennsylvania, in Urbana. It's about a mile from the department; .8 miles from the dorms.  See http://www.campusrec.illinois.edu/facilities/illiniGrove/ or click here for Google map directions. Feel free to bring frisbee, volleyball, etc....

The BBQ will feature food from Black Dog Smoke and Ale House and beverages will also be provided.

PICNIC AT CRYSTAL LAKE PARK (large pavilion)

4 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, Large Pavilion at Crystal Lake Park 

The Crystal Lake Park pavilion is located north of Park Avenue between Broadway Avenue and Orchard Street in Urbana. It's about 1.5 miles from the department; 1.1 from the dorms. Feel free to bring frisbee, volleyball, soccerball etc (there are fields around).

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY FAIR

The Champaign County Fair is happening during the first week of the Junior Retreat (June 20-28). The fairgrounds are located at Coler and Fairview, in Urbana. This is next to (on the east) of Crystal Lake Park. Click here for Google map directions.

The Champaign County Fair has standard midwestern fun. Food on sticks, carnival rides, and various performances, etc. Admission is $5 (cash only). Food, rides and games cost extra.

We'll take a group trip on Wednesday, July 25; meet outside dorms at 5:30 to walk up together. There's a motorcycle race this evening at 6:30 (cost $6 general admission, or $10 infield admission). Other exciting things: rodeo on Thursday; monster truck show on Friday.

Best Busses are again 6 (Orange) and 10 (Gold). (7 Grey goes closer, but you can't catch it near campus).
