space“
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position
within the DFG project „Asymptotic geometry of the Higgs bundle moduli space“
inside SPP 2026 „Geometry at infinity“. Applications
should be submitted before June 1, 2017 in order to receive full
consideration.
The appointment is for 3 years starting no later than October 1, 2017. The position is available as of now is based at CAU Kiel in the workgroup of Hartmut Weiß. The successful candidate is expected to spend at least 6 months under the supervision of Jan Swoboda at LMU München. He or she is expected to bring in research expertise in at least one of the following fields:
• asymptotics of Higgs bundles or harmonic maps
• higher Teichmüller
spaces
• analysis of gauge theoretic moduli spaces
• Hitchin integrable
system
• asymptotic geometry of non-compact hyperkähler manifolds

Topology and Geometry of Manifolds unit at Okinawa Institute of
Science and Technology invites applications for two Postdoctoral
Scholar and two Scientist positions. For Postdoctoral Scholar
positions, PhD should be awarded not earlier than August 2012. For
Scientists, there is no limit for the number of years after PhD. If
needed, a Scientist position can be taken while on an unpaid leave
from a position at another institution. For Postdoctoral Scholars the
appointment is for 2 years, starting September 2017. There might be an
opportunity to renew it for one or two more years. For Scientists, the
appointment is for a term from six months to two years (at least one
year is preferred), with a flexible starting date. The positions do
not carry teaching duties. Candidates must be willing to contribute to
Topology and Geometry of Manifolds group meetings, and to mentoring

Postdoctoral position in Algebraic Geometry at the University of Porto
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position (BPD) within the project Geometry of Algebraic Varieties (PTDC/MAT-GEO/2823/2014) funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Portugal). Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a related field, preferably obtained less than 6 years ago and have research experience in one of the main research areas of the project: Algebraic Surfaces and Moduli spaces (especially of Higgs bundles). The initial contract will be for 12 months, renewable for another 12 months on mutual agreement. The expected starting date is January 1, 2017 though some flexibility may be possible. The successful candidate will be based at the Centre for Mathematics of the University of Porto (Faculty of Sciences) and work under the supervision of one of the senior members of the project, Peter Gothen, Margarida Mendes Lopes, André Oliveira or Carlos Rito. CNRS postdoctoral position, Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES)
Applications are invited for a CNRS postdoctoral position in mathematics at IHES (France) beginning September 2017 to be funded by the ERC Starting Grant "Discrete Groups and Geometric Structures". The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possible renewal for a second year. Application deadline: November 23, 2016
We are looking for a candidate with a strong research potential, interested in investigating discrete subgroups of Lie groups acting on various geometric spaces. Particular attention will be paid to candidates who already have some experience working on one of the following topics: discrete subgroups of Lie groups, Teichmüller or Higher Teichmüller theory, dynamics on character varieties, geometric structures on manifolds (hyperbolic geometry, convex projective geometry, Lorentzian or more generally pseudo-Riemannian geometry, etc.). Assistant Professor, Universidad de Los Andes
The Department of Mathematics at Universidad de Los Andes invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level starting in January 2017. Applications in all areas of pure and applied mathematics will be considered.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in mathematics or a closely related area (applied mathematics, statistics or operations research) awarded at least one year before the beginning of the appointment. He or she must show a strong potential in research and teaching and a strong commitment to both is expected. The teaching load is two courses per semester, but may be reduced to one course in the first semester. Research funds are available.
The starting date of the appointment, pending administrative approval, is January 2017. To receive full consideration, complete applications must be received by September 18, 2016.
Postdoctoral positions, Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation
The Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT-Portugal) is announcing a call for post-doctoral positions for 3 years with deadline July 15, 2016. The Gear nodes of Porto and Lisbon welcome applications in the areas related to the network interests, especially related to moduli spaces of Higgs bundles and character varieties.

Postdoctoral positions, University of Luxembourg
Two
2-year postdoctoral positions are currently open at the University of Luxembourg
in the framework of a joint research project with the National University of
Singapore. The positions will be based in Luxembourg, but with up to 3
month/year in Singapore. Priority areas are geometric structures on
low-dimensional manifolds and representations of surface groups in particular
with focus on Anti-de Sitter geometry, Higher Teichmueller theory, Moduli space
of representations of free groups in PSL(2, C), identities on representation
varieties, and related questions.

Postdoc position at EPF Lausanne
The Chair of Geometry at EPF Lausanne is advertising for an ERC post-doctoral assistant position for 2+2 years, starting September 2014, funded by the ERC advanced investigator grant "Arithmetic and physics of Higgs moduli spaces". Teaching can be done in English. The position comes with annual salary of CHF 80K. Attached to the Chair are funds for travel and inviting collaborators and colleagues. There will be two post-doc positions (of one year) in Orsay starting September 2013, supported by the HighTeich ERC grant whose scientist in charge is François Labourie. Applicants should be working in the following areas: geometry, geometric group theory, dynamical systems or mathematical physics. An interest in the study of group actions, Teichmüller theory, discrete subgroups of Lie groups or geometric structures will be appreciated but not considered as necessary. The postdoc will devote most of his time to research, and will participate to the the department activities. His teaching consists in giving a course every other semester.
